Example Scenarios
What a custom request can look like
These are representative examples of how customers come to FWM for a custom configuration.
Existing pad replacement with custom footprint
An aging vaporizer needs to be replaced, but the new unit has to drop onto the existing concrete pad and bolt pattern. FWM matches the footprint, mounting holes, and connection locations so the replacement fits the existing installation.
Continuous-duty bulk nitrogen in a cold climate
A bulk LIN tank feeds a process that runs around the clock in a cold-weather location. FWM sizes and configures the vaporizer for continuous-duty operation with cold-climate performance considered during engineering review.
OEM skid integration with custom connection orientation
An OEM is integrating a vaporizer into a packaged skid and needs the inlet and outlet oriented to match their piping layout. FWM adjusts connection orientation and mounting so the unit drops directly into the skid design.
Mounting & Packaging
Trailer-mounted and manifolded systems
When an application calls for mobile or temporary gas supply, FWM configures multiple vaporizers as manifolded banks with common headers and integrates them onto customer trailers or skids, built to your mounting, lifting, and packaging specifications.

Custom-Engineered Configurations
High-pressure stainless and hydro-expanded capability
Some applications call for materials, pressure ratings, or construction methods beyond standard aluminum ambient vaporizer configurations. FWM reviews these as custom-engineered, application-reviewed projects.

High-pressure stainless options
For applications that require pressure ratings or material compatibility beyond standard aluminum ambient vaporizer configurations, FWM can review custom high-pressure stainless vaporizer requirements. Depending on the application, designs may include stainless steel pressure-path components, stainless-lined configurations, specialty alloys, customer-specified connections, and documentation packages for pressure testing, material traceability, and cleaning requirements.
Standard MAWP 600 PSIG; higher pressure ratings available by engineering review. Standard AV Series and DVAP platforms are aluminum ambient vaporizers and are not high-pressure stainless units.

Hydro-expanded tube/fin construction
FWM also supports hydro-expanded tube/fin construction techniques where appropriate for custom vaporizer and heat-exchanger assemblies. Hydro expansion can be used to create controlled mechanical contact between the pressure tube and heat-transfer surface, supporting consistent thermal transfer and repeatable production. Specific construction details, materials, pressure ratings, and inspection requirements are confirmed during engineering review.
When this applies
- Higher-pressure industrial gas applications
- Pump discharge vaporization
- Hydrogen and specialty gas review
- Specialty services requiring different material review
- Stainless pressure-path requirements
- OEM/private-label vaporizer platforms
- Replacement of existing high-pressure or stainless-lined units
- Customer-specified connection, code, cleaning, or documentation requirements
Information we need to quote
- Gas service / cryogenic liquid
- Required flow rate
- Inlet pressure and outlet pressure
- MAWP or design pressure requirement
- Duty cycle and ambient conditions
- Required material or corrosion compatibility
- Connection type and orientation
- Cleaning requirements, including oxygen service if applicable
- Code/compliance requirement, if any
- Existing unit photos/nameplate if replacing
- Drawing, P&ID, or system sketch if available
- Documentation package required

Final sizing and suitability depend on gas service, pressure, flow, duty cycle, ambient conditions, code requirements, cleaning requirements, and customer specifications. Material, pressure rating, construction method, testing, and documentation are confirmed by FWM engineering for the specific application.
Frequently Asked
High-pressure stainless and hydro-expanded questions
Are high-pressure stainless vaporizers standard catalog models?
Some vaporizer requirements can be handled from standard platforms, but higher-pressure stainless configurations are typically reviewed as custom or OEM/private-label projects. FWM engineering will confirm the appropriate material, pressure rating, construction method, testing, and documentation for the application.
What is hydro-expanded construction?
Hydro-expanded construction uses controlled hydraulic pressure to expand a tube into contact with surrounding heat-transfer surfaces or related components. For vaporizer and heat-exchanger assemblies, this can support repeatable mechanical contact and heat transfer. FWM confirms when this method is appropriate based on material, pressure, geometry, and service requirements.
Can FWM support hydrogen vaporizer requirements?
FWM can review hydrogen vaporizer requirements, including pressure, material, cleanliness, documentation, and duty-cycle considerations. Final design and suitability must be confirmed by engineering based on the specific application.
Can FWM provide documentation?
Documentation can be provided based on project requirements and may include drawings, material records, pressure-test records, inspection records, cleaning documentation, and customer-specific QC packages.
